Father of "Have Blue" Skullangel Su-27 Hater.

Simonov had biast views about his aircraft's towards western designed F-15's and who's to blame after all he is the father of the Su-27. It's kind of like how one will believe their Child will always be the best overall despite his classmate has made the honor roll at school, gets better grades in class and plays ball better. The Su-27 will only get respect from those who are related. Especially those countries that operate the aircraft.

In recent years the F-15 has been in a simulated Dog fight against the Su-27 and despite the rumors of keeping things a secret it seems that the Sukhoi fighters have always topped our aircrafts in simmed dog fights. In Operation Red flag our F-15C's were out bested against more modernized Su-30 MKI Fighters. Despite the American's being handicapped in most of these air simulations the sukhoi supporters are delusional enough to believe that the famous Flanker has proven it's superiority over the Eagle.

What they will never understand is that the F-15 has actual combat experience with zero air to air losses against many different aircrafts including russian made migs. You see simulated combat does not matter the real test is when they are scrambled into action. All the non sense stops and it's either put up or shut up. Now I don't wish that the F-15's kill record be bested in years but it is highly unlikely the Su-27 will actually best it in a real life dog fight considering our mindset is much different from the time "Practice" to the time we actually go out and fight and our lives and freedom are on the line.

Bottom line is the Su-27 and Su-30 are the most over feared and over rated fighters ever built with an over epic claim that its superior to western fighters when in fact it's only shot down 5 Mig-29's in it's service life. The Su-30 MKI might be an upgraded version of the Su-27 but how about we make things a bit more "Even" by putting an MKI up against a Silent Eagle? or an F-15K model? Something a bit more modern like the MKI with upgraded radar systems, weapons and avaonics.

Do I have faith in the F-15 against an Su-27? I have equal faith that either aircraft will come out on top depending on the pilot but me being full blooded American I'm going to be as biast as Mikhail Petrovich Simonov was with the Su-27 and say victory is unquestionable in real time combat. Our F-15's have proven their worth years ago in true combat and will continue to evolve into better aircrafts of tomorrow and will take down the J-20 if confronted.

Even Tomorrow with the PAK F/A and J-20 stealth being created I predict those will be a complete waste of time and even a complete waste of thought to acknowledge just as the Su-27 has been throughout its life time. The USAF should be more focused on our allies and what they have in the works such as Japan's "ATD X ShinShin " and Korea's KFG program or even the countries acquiring the F-35 in large numbers like Isreal and Saudi Arbia.

The bottom line is the Su-27 has and will always be that "Possibility" and "What if" in the sky. Personally I call it the Su-27 Bonus Round because it has yet to prove its worth to anyone out there. People will keep dreaming about the F-22 Raptor despite it's out of service its at least good for something.

Why the USAF need's more F-22's and not more F-35's

Since 2010 it's be very obvious that the United States Air force is not the only airforce in the world to have stealth Technology to it's disposal. Now Russia, India and China and even Korea and Japan have stepped in with stealth programs of their own starting with the long awaited Russian Su-50 or "Pak Fa" air superiority fighter along development with India's FGFA variant of the Sukhoi prototype. China has been working on their Chengdu J-20 and had a successful test flight in early 2011 which sent shock waves throughout the world having skeptics ask if the modern day Cold War has returned in the form of The United States vs China just as it was back then with American vs Russia with the Su-27 vs F-15.

Don't think that stealth is only exclusive to large countries like China. Korea has begun it's "KFXX" program to answer north Korea's potential interest in buying a fleet of PAk Fa's or J-20's. Japan is working on the ATD X "Shin Shin" which is very much like the F-22 Raptor and many sources have conformed Lockheed Martin's involvement in the program. These programs also do not include the up and incoming Mig XX program set to go head to head with the F-35 and Eurofighter. Iran's possible stealth fighter.

Why more F-22's instead of the 600+F-35's?

Well it's safe to The F-22 Raptor is without a doubt the most developed fighter aircraft ever built with several years and billions of dollars invested in it's program while the F-35 is beginning to complete it's prototype stage the F-35 will not be as usable as the F-22 could be especially compared with these up and coming stealth aircraft the Raptor was design to take on several Su-27's and Mig-29's at once while it's been proven to be 1 Raptor against over 15 F-16's in simulated combat and being successful. The Lightning on the other hand has yet to prove it's air supremacy against other fighters. I believe personally that the USAF has over spent to much on this program and will regret decommissioning the Raptor program.

Sure we can retro fit current and aging F-15's with up to date modern technology such as the AESA Radar system to take on the J-20 but that would still put us at a huge disadvantage with the F-15 being nearly 40 years old now it's going to be difficult to keep pace with the next 20-30 years and these airframes will not last long. I did see some promise from the F-15 Silent Eagle being a brand new fighter with F-22 like capabilities but we still need something more "Modern" and not a retro modified hot rod with an LS3 Turbo to take on a brand new 2012 Nissan GTR for lack of better words. It's time to retire the F-15 and build more F-22's.

I believe that the United State's airforce shouldn't even consider buying F-35's at all. The F-16 is still a very good aircraft and we rarely use them today. The F-22 was originally design to not only be an air superiority fighter but it could also engage ground targets. Why not fit the Raptor with these systems? I can see where the Navy might need F-35's to replace it's aging hornets and the US Marine Corps it's Harrier Jump Jets. They are very old and in desperate need of a modern version but even then they should be limited to small numbers.

Other country's have shown interest and will be buying F-35's and to a degree I think it's wonderful yet foolish. After all these years we will be offering our biggest secret to the rest of the world on stealth technology to the point were when it's time to create a sixth generation fighter everyone will have the ability to create stealth technology on their own without the aid of the united states nor will be interested in buying any future aircrafts from the states. Instead they will simply just build their own.

What the United States airforce should have done from the beginning was put both the F-22 and YF-23 in active service. Put the F-22 to replace the F-15 while the YF-23 could have been a decent replacement for the F-14 Tomcat.

Sixth Generation aircraft in development for the Navy?

I honest believe F/A-XX is probably the biggest waste of our tax dollars since developing another bomber aircraft for our military. We simply do not need sixth generation air crafts quite yet however the Air force plans to develop one as soon as 2025. The F-22 has yet to carry out a single sortie nor the F-35 has yet to go into full production. What the hell is our government building yet another costly stealth fighter that will likely sit and collect more dust?

If the Air force would only know they could easily produce more F-22's and continue further development on weapons we could very easily close the gap on any country who's currently developing stealth fighters of their own. With over 20 years of developing how could china and Russia produce a better aircraft in the next 10-20 years? what can they do in that time frame that the USAF has not done with the F-22? This is now our chance to take this program and run with. It will not be difficult to produce more F-22's although cost will be an issue and this is why the F-35 should be cut in half for just the carrier and VTOL variants if not dropped all together.

By the Time the Pak Fa and J-20 actually hit production it will sadly be safe to say the United States government will have yet again wasted our tax dollars on developing another aircraft called the F/A-XX for the navy and continued to invest in this worthless aircraft called the Lightning II. They really don't have to when the answer lies within their own decommissioned program they took out. All they have to do is bring back the F-22 and all the future air supremacy threats will be solved. At least Air to air wise.

Su-27 Flanker the most over feared aircraft of all time?

"Think in Russian!"

At the height of the cold Russia had discovered that the United States began developing new generation fighters such as the F-15 Eagle, F-16 Viper and A-10 Thunderbolt and had many other developing on the way such as the F-18 Hornet and AV-88 Harrier. Russia needed a new generation Air superiority fighter to replace its aging Mig-21 and match the western F-15 and F-14 interceptors so during 1977 they began development of the "T-10" prototype along side the Mig-29 project.

The T-10 went through a lot of defective stages like a fatal crash occurred on May 7th 1978 during flight testing. Sukhoi did not give up and tried again with its "T-10S" prototype fully redesigned with intentions of working out all of the bugs and sadly that test flight was also unsuccessful with another fatal crash on the 23rd December 1981. Finally Sukhoi got the final design right and in 1984 the "Flanker B" went into full production and active service.

Design is that of a Mig-29 except much larger with bigger more powerful Lyulka AL-31F turbofan engines making this aircraft very maneuverable to western fighters like the F-15 and F-16 in a close dogfight.

This aircraft alone is what prompted the United States Air force to began development of their Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) program which lead to the the Boeing/General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin YF-22 Lightning II and Northrop/Grumman/McDonnell Douglas YF-23 Black Widow II prototypes. Everyone in congress feared this new Aircraft that Soviet Russia had developed and built had "Mig 31 Firefox" like capabilities and believed that newer more stealthy aircraft's needed to be developed and put into production.

Thankfully Russia had not developed a real life Firefox at that time. The Su-27 had a 30mm cannon like that found in an A-10. It had many Air to Air goodies as well like the Vympel R-73 (AA-11 Archer), Vympel R-27 (AA-10 'Alamo') missile's. Then it was equipped with Phazotron N001 Zhuk coherent pulse-Doppler radar with track-while-scan and look-down / shoot-down capability.

This aircraft had almost promised pure airsupority over the western F-15 but thankfully by the time this aircraft was fully active the cold war was over and the Americans were off to desert storm while Russia was off to fight the 1992-1993 war in Abkhazia against the Georgian forces. One Su-27 was lost to a SAM using a S-75 Dvina. By then the F-15 Eagle had proven its worth with a kill record of 114 to zero loses in Air to Air combat. Later during the Ethiopian war the Su-27 went up against its little brother 5 Mig-29 and shot them all down. Since then its been used as an escort, bomber reconnaissance for Ethiopians main choice for air defense.

The Final note

The Su-27 has never really seen serious combat. Sure it has taken down the Mig-29 in Air to Air combat but so has the F-15 Eagle, F-16, F-18. Many claim it's a far superior aircraft to the F-15 Eagle C and could even stand up to an F-22 in a straight dog fight but the facts are it hasn't proven much during its service life. Today its being phased out by the Su-30 and Su-35(A plus plus generation fighter) with better up graded radar systems, better weapons and jammers. We could only hope that no aircraft in the future will beat the F-15's Air to Air record but I can't help but get annoyed with the claims that the Su-27 is far better than the F-15 in air to air combat when in fact it hasn't really proven anything in its life other than the fact it can do some cool moves that may get the pilots who flew those aircraft's at the airshow laid when its all said and done.

Operation red flag did prove that an upgraded Su-30MKI from india can indeed beat our old F-15C's in a dogfight however it was always balanced on wins to loses during these simmed dogfights. Further more its a newer aircraft going up against an older aircraft like a Ferrari F-40LM against a first generation base Lamborghini Diablo non VT. Come on! get a Diablo GTR out there for a fair fight! With Boeing releasing the F-15SE or Silent Eagle as they call it with Stealthy capabilities like that of the F-22 Raptor the Eagle should be keeping Flanker pilots up at night just as they always have done.
